Dissect for Notion

Connect Notion once. Search in Dissect and the right page comes up next to your saves, then opens in Notion. Notion's own sign-in screen lets you pick which pages Dissect can see. After that, read all of them in full or only the ones you choose. A page brings its subpages with it, and the rest are still listed by name.

1. How it works

Connect on Notion's own screen

You sign in with Notion, not with Dissect, and allow it to read. Dissect never sees your password.

2. ## Everything, or choose pages

Notion's own sign-in screen lets you pick which pages Dissect can see. After that, import all of them or only the ones you choose. A page brings its subpages with it.

3. ## Search in Dissect, open where it lives

Your pages turn up in Dissect search under "In your apps", next to your saves. Tap one and it opens in Notion.

What it reads

What Dissect reads in Notion

Dissect keeps the text and a link, never a copy of the file, and checks for changes about every six hours.

  • ### Pages and subpages

Headings, text, lists, to-dos, quotes and toggles, read as plain text.

  • ### Databases

Listed by name, so they turn up in search. Their rows are pages and are read like any other page.

  • ### Titles of everything else

With "Search the rest of Notion" on, pages you didn't import still turn up by title, with an Import button.

What it never does

Read only, and yours to switch off

  • ### Never writes

Dissect never edits, moves, posts or deletes anything in Notion.

  • ### Not in your Library

Your pages stay in Notion. They don't use your saves or your storage.

  • ### Forgets on disconnect

Disconnect from Connected apps and Dissect forgets everything it read.

  • ### Search the rest, if you want

An optional switch also asks Notion about pages you didn't import, each with an Import button.

Common questions

Does Dissect change anything in my Notion?

No. Dissect only reads. It never edits, moves, posts or deletes a page, and you can disconnect at any time.

Which pages can Dissect see?

Only the pages you allow on Notion's own sign-in screen. Inside that, you choose to import all of them or only some.

Do my Notion pages go into my Library?

No. They stay in Notion. Dissect keeps their text and a link so search can find them, they show up under "In your apps", and they don't use your saves or storage.

Can I search pages I didn't import?

Yes, with "Search the rest of Notion" switched on. Notion only lets apps match those by title, so the words inside them aren't searched.

How fresh is it?

Dissect checks for changes about every six hours, and you can press Check for changes any time. Deleted pages disappear from Dissect too.
