Question 1

Is Dissect a good Readwise Reader alternative?

Accepted Answer

It depends what you save. Readwise Reader is excellent for people who read long things, highlight them, and actually review the highlights. If your saves are more reel than RSS, Dissect fits better: it reads video, audio, images and documents as closely as it reads articles.

Question 2

How much does Dissect cost compared to Readwise?

Accepted Answer

Readwise Reader is $9.99 a month with no permanent free tier. Dissect is free to start and does not expire, Pro is $4 a month, and Ultra is $8. In India that is ₹99 and ₹249. Readwise has no India pricing.

Question 3

Do I have to highlight things to get value out of it?

Accepted Answer

No, and that is the main difference. Readwise's workflow assumes highlights, exports and a review habit you maintain. Dissect writes a summary and the main points on arrival, so a save is useful even if you never touch it again.

Question 4

Can Dissect handle video and audio?

Accepted Answer

Yes. YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and uploaded audio and video are transcribed in full, and on-screen text is read out of the video's keyframes, which is where short-form video usually puts the actual list. Podcasts and voice notes are read the same way.
